"Saudi Vision 2030 is a government program launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which aims to achieve the goal of increased diversification economically, socially and culturally, in line with the vision of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. It was first announced on 25 April 2016 by the Saudi government."
Over the last couple of years I have worked on various documentary strands supporting the Saudi Vision 2030 mega project. Primarily MEWA (Ministry for Environment, Water and Agriculture) and Politics, but also Food, 'Giga' Projects, and Travel. These shoots have taken me across the whole Kingdom, from the Red Sea, Al'Ula and the Rub al' Khali (The Empty Quarter) via cities such as Jeddah and Riyadh. Some of the films also relate to countries outside of Saudi Arabia such as Turkey, Lebanon and Azerbaijan.
One particular series of films about 'rewilding' the landscape and the reintroduction of lost species was particularly compelling and required venturing on unforgettable trips to some of the most remote and beautiful parts of this ancient and culture-rich Kingdom.
